About service

Almost everyone experiences skin problems from time to time. But what should be done if adolescence has passed and the face has not become smooth and clear? Unfortunately, acne may also develop after the age of 35 due to various causes (hormonal imbalance, improper nutrition, stress), affecting both men and women.

Without treatment, the disease may last for years, causing both physical and psychological discomfort. However, an experienced physician and effective complex therapy can help manage this condition.

What is acne
Acne vulgaris is a chronic recurrent disorder caused by inflammation of the sebaceous glands. It most often develops on the face, chest, and back, progressing through several stages:

Sebaceous glands thicken and enlarge,

Accumulation of sebum and thickening of the stratum corneum lead to the formation of open or closed comedones,

Colonization by Propionibacterium acnes (currently classified as Cutibacterium acnes) leads to eruption. These bacteria are part of the normal skin microbiome but proliferate actively when hair follicles are blocked, triggering inflammation,

Possible development of deep inflammation and scar tissue formation.

Causes of acne:

Hormonal changes,

Menstrual cycle disturbances,

Hereditary hyperandrogenism (elevated levels of androgens),

Unbalanced nutrition (fast food, dairy products, and excess carbohydrates increase sebaceous gland activity and promote inflammatory skin processes),

Gastrointestinal dysfunction (alterations in gut microbiota lead to immune impairment and acne development),

Stress (not a direct cause, but it can disturb hormonal balance and aggravate skin condition),

Oil-based cosmetics,

Mechanical factors (squeezing pimples).

Symptoms and types of acne
Specialists distinguish the following types of acne and their characteristic symptoms:

Open comedones (blackheads). These are open pores where sebum oxidizes upon contact with air and darkens, forming black dots. This is primarily a cosmetic defect without associated inflammation.

Closed comedones (whiteheads). Small skin lesions filled with keratin and sebum without an external opening. They are flesh-colored or white.

Papules. When infection penetrates a comedone, a papule may form — a firm nodule, elevated above the skin, ranging from 0.1 to 2 cm, with color from pale pink to bright red depending on the degree of inflammation.

Pustules. Lesions resulting from a purulent process in the dermis and epidermis, appearing as vesicles with a white purulent head in the center. Multiple pustules on the body indicate a condition known as pustulosis.

Diagnosis of acne
In most cases, clinical examination and medical history are sufficient to diagnose acne and prescribe treatment. Hormonal testing is indicated only in cases with signs of systemic hyperandrogenism: male-pattern hirsutism, delayed onset, or irregular menstruation.

Prevention
To prevent acne, the following recommendations are advised:

Undergo annual blood, stool, and urine tests,

Regularly consult a gynecologist,

Maintain gut health,

Balance nutrition, minimizing fatty and unhealthy foods,

Choose appropriate daily skincare,

Use cosmetic procedures to regulate sebum production,

Avoid stress whenever possible.
