What is Mesotherapy
During the procedure, beneficial substances are injected subcutaneously in microdoses, targeting specific imperfections such as wrinkles, folds, pigment spots, and skin dryness. The procedure creates a “depot” of active ingredients that act within the middle layers of the skin for several months, ensuring a long-lasting effect. Depending on the patient’s specific issues, an individual mesococktail is selected.
Composition of the Preparations
Mesotherapeutic cocktails may include:
Hyaluronic acid.
Considered the key component of youthful skin, hyaluronic acid has the unique ability to attract water, thereby deeply hydrating the skin and smoothing wrinkles.
Collagen.
A fibrillar protein forming the basis of connective tissue, providing its strength. When collagen levels decrease, bones become more fragile, and the skin becomes thinner and appears unhealthy.
Elastin.
This protein is responsible for skin elasticity. Over time, its chains with collagen degrade; therefore, additional stimulation of elastin synthesis is required.
Vitamin A (Retinol).
Evens out skin tone, increases its density, protects collagen fibers from degradation, and reduces manifestations of acne and pigmentation. It also benefits hair by regulating sebum secretion, promoting hair growth, and giving natural volume and shine.
Vitamin C.
A powerful antioxidant that prevents hair dryness and hair loss, renews the superficial skin layer, stimulates cellular regeneration, and reduces fine wrinkles, eruptions, and pigment spots.
Vitamin E.
Prevents premature graying, hair loss, and split ends. Strengthens cell membranes, stimulates cellular respiration, enhances nutrient delivery to the skin, and improves the epidermal barrier function.
Vitamin P.
Exerts a pronounced anti-aging effect, neutralizes free radicals, smooths skin texture, strengthens capillaries, increases their resilience, enhances tissue metabolism, and reduces puffiness.
Glycolic acid.
Indispensable in acne and post-acne scar therapy; lightens pigment spots, prevents skin dryness, and regulates sebum secretion.
Lipolytics.
Facilitate the breakdown of fat molecules.
Gibilan.
Provides a vasoprotective effect and improves lymphatic and venous drainage.
These are only some of the possible components that may be included in mesotherapy formulations. The cosmetologist at Expert Clinics will select the preparation most suitable for you during the consultation.
Effect of Mesotherapy
The result depends on the treatment area and the specific type of mesococktail. The general effects include:
Smoothing of skin texture,
Improvement of microcirculation,
Intensive hair growth,
Enhanced therapeutic effect of topical creams,
Toning, nourishment, and deep hydration of the skin,
Strengthening of hair follicles,
Normalization of metabolic processes,
Prevention of age-related changes,
Reduction in the depth of striae,
Decrease in seborrheic dermatitis, hair loss, alopecia, cellulite, and couperosis,
Restoration of skin firmness and elasticity.
Treatment Areas
Mesotherapy can be performed on all areas of the face and body, including:
Forehead,
Upper and periocular region,
Chin,
Perioral area (to correct dryness, volume loss, and perioral wrinkles),
Nose, nasolabial folds,
Scalp (for hair loss),
Neck (“Venus rings”),
Décolleté,
Abdomen (striae, flaccidity),
Thighs (localized fat deposits),
Buttocks (stretch marks, loss of firmness),
Arms,
Back (lateral fat deposits).
Contraindications
Like other aesthetic procedures, mesotherapy has several contraindications:
Pregnancy and lactation,
Oncological diseases,
Any type of inflammatory process,
Acute respiratory infections (ARVI, acute respiratory disease),
Coagulation disorders,
Diabetes mellitus,
Integrity violations of the skin.
It is also not recommended to perform mesotherapy during menstruation. All restrictions will be discussed during the initial consultation with a dermatocosmetologist, who, after examination and anamnesis, will determine whether the procedure is currently suitable or should be postponed.
Answers from Our Specialists
“From what age can the procedure be performed?”
Mesotherapy is strictly performed after the age of 18. In adolescence, it can be used to correct hormonal imbalance manifestations—acne and pimples—and normalize sebum secretion. The optimal age for the procedure is between 25 and 35 years.
“Is mesotherapy painful?”
Regarding both facial and body areas, there is practically no pain, as the cosmetologist applies an anesthetic cream beforehand.
“How many sessions are needed for visible results?”
It is individual. On average, 12–15 sessions are sufficient to reduce cellulite, about 10 for weight reduction, and approximately 8–9 to achieve an anti-aging effect.
